Najden, bulgarischer Schriftsteller und Philologe, * Kopriwschtiza (Region Sofia) 23. 2. 1823, ✝ Plowdiw 9. 10. 1900; war am Ausbau des bulgarischen Unterrichtswesens beteiligt und in der nationalpolitischen und nationalkirchlichen Befreiungsbewegung tätig. An A. S. Puschkin und M. J. Lermontow geschult, gab er der bulgarischen Literatur neuen Geist, neue Form und Bildhaftigkeit. Sein Poem »Stojan i Rada« ist ein erster Versuch, den syllabischen Vers in der bulgarischen Lyrik durch tonische Verse zu ersetzen; er schrieb auch psychologisch subtil erzählte Reiseberichte. Bedeutend sind seine Untersuchungen zur bulgarischen Grammatik und Etymologie (»Rečnik na blgarskij jazik«, 5 Bände, 1895-1904).
